A photographic extravaganza

As soon as we arrived in the bushveld our senses and lenses were on high alert!

Our guests, father and daughter, spent 3 days on a photographic safari, staying in a tented camp by the waterside in Marakele National Park.  On a photographic safari there is always the thrill of not knowing what the next picture will be, what might appear at any moment out of the thick bushes or be seen wandering on the open plains or perhaps the glimpse of a hippo bobbing up in front of their tent whilst sipping a sundowner.

Wherever we looked there was an  opportunity for a memorable picture.  Our father and daughter team have a passion for nature and were keen to understand as much about the flora and fauna as possible during their trip.  Our guide Megan didn't disappoint and ably answered all their questions.   We spent the 3 days trundling around the bushveld at a very sedate pace - hoping to capture many images of the countries diverse wildlife - we were lucky and saw white rhinos, buffalo, kudu, clip springers, rock darcies, impala and to top it all we also saw a secretive civet cat in daylight hours!

Relaxing evenings by the camp fire meant stories and memories from the day could be shared over a G and T or two.  Whether it's a hippo peaking out of the water, an elusive kudu just visible in the bushes or a majestic elephant - the anticipation of what you could see are all part of the allure of a photographic safari.  It's always an honour to be with guests when they spot an animal or bird for the first time.
